Abstract

The analysis of current problems of monument protection and state priorities in the field of heritage showed the need to address topics that particularly affect the stability and effectiveness of the monument protection system. The National Program for the Protection and Care of Monuments aims to implement the provision of Art. 84 in conjunction with Art. 86 sec. 1 of the Act of 23 July 2003 on the protection and care of monuments (Journal of Laws of 2022, item 840). The national program is the main strategic document defining the objectives of the government administration and its subordinate departments and institutions in the field of monument protection and care, as well as measures to achieve the set goals. The draft of the National Program 2023-2026 diagnoses the status of monument protection in Poland in three basic dimensions: the organization and tasks of monument protection authorities in Poland, the state of preservation of monuments in Poland, including the role and importance of forms of monument protection and systems of information about monuments, communication, participation, agreement and cooperation in the area of monument protection in Poland. The main objective of the current draft of the National Program for the Protection and Care of Monuments is  “The increasing the resilience of the historical resource in Poland”.
