Abstract

The article describes the history of the development of the experimental motor-jet aircraft developed by enineer Secondo Campini. A unique feature of this design was the idea of using a piston engine to drive a compressor pumping air into the combustion chambers. The Campini-Caproni C.C.2 was the second jet-powered aircraft in aviation history to take to the air. At the same time, it was the first jet aircraft to use afterburners.
