Importance of fuel quality and type in turbine engines

Abstract

The paper is an analysis of the impact of fuel parameters on the performance, efficiency and operation of turbine engines. Key properties of aviation fuels, such as chemical composition, heating value and resistance to temperature changes, are discussed. A comparison of different types of fuel is also presented, including traditional petroleum fuels and alternative biofuels and synthetic fuels.


Attention is given to the importance of fuel quality in terms of flight safety, exhaust emissions and operating costs. The paper also includes an analysis of future developments that can influence the development of cleaner and more efficient propulsion technologies in aviation.
