Sustainable Development: Philosophical and Medialistic Aspect

Abstract

Relation between philosophical thought and the idea of sustainable development is connected especially with axiological orientation of philosophers, their cognitional, epistemological and historical convictions. One can distinguish four basic standpoints:



  • philosophy of balanced growth and active protection of the environment;

  • philosophy of sustainable social development;

  • philosophy of ecodevelopment;

  • philosophy of real ecodevelopment.


The method of reaching reasonable understanding of sustainable development category may be phenomenological, referring to naturalistic tradition. In the article the idea of phenomenology of life proposed by A. T. Tymieniecka is discussed. It may be extremely useful in the proces.
