Abstract
The article presents the formation of the sustainable development idea as the alternative for the development of modern humanity in the face of economic and ecological crisis. The new understanding of human community, which is fundamental for this idea, is also described. The idea of sustainable development, and all the ecophilosophical ideas, consider the human community as the reference to whole human species. Its main characteristics are the universal ecological awareness and the postulate of ecocentrism. The requirement for the universal ecological awareness is global proecological education and the purpose of it is to build a new human civilization in which all the threats for the further human existence will be eliminated.
