Abstract
Professor Dołęga thanked for all the kind words and for preparing the jubilee and expressed the hope that he would be able to continue working, and above all, that his work will be crowned with the establishment of the new scientific discipline “environmental protection”. The jubilarian emphasized the need to establish a discipline with such a name due to the dynamically developing research in this field. They cannot be placed within the existing scientific disciplines of an engineering nature, because they go beyond narrow engineering approaches. State of research on environmental issues is so serious that the creation of a discipline of this nature is not only a response to the advancement of research, but also an incentive for further development. This could be a significant step towards overcoming the ecological crisis.
