Abstract

The catholic social sciences have always been associated with the idea of sustainable development. This is affirmed by the numerous writings of John Paul II and nowadays, emphasised in the speeches of Pope Francis. The paper considers the environmental aspects of the filial churches functioning. It investigates wheter they fit with the idea of sustainable development. Considerations are carried with particular reference to the thirteen filial churches in Zawierciański pastoral district of the Archdiocese of Czestochowa, Poland.
