Niniejsze badanie koncentruje się na analizie trendów w architekturze pływającej w oparciu o studia literaturowe oraz analizę 18 przykładów. 72% z analizowanych projektów jest planowanych lub zrealizowanych w warunkach otwartego morza, co podkreśla ambicje architektury pływającej w kontekście zmian klimatu i związanej z nimi rosnącej urbanizacji na wodach morskich. Analizy obejmują trzy kategorie: indywidualne obiekty pływające (A), w tym mieszkalne i zamieszkania zbiorowego oraz obiekty pełniące inne funkcje; kompleksy pływające (B); oraz miasta pływające (C), zorganizowane dla średnio 40 000–50 000 mieszkańców, a w niektórych przypadkach dla ponad 2 milionów osób. Badanie obejmuje trzy główne aspekty: funkcję, formę oraz rozwiązania zrównoważone, przedstawione w zestawieniach tabelarycznych. Architektura pływająca jest głównie reprezentowana przez budynki niskie (72%), w 56% przypadków wykorzystuje systemy modułowe, a w 88% cechuje się zwartymi formami. Kształty platform obejmują formy prostokątne, okrągłe, wielokątne lub organiczne. Kompleksy pływające przyjmują różne układy – głównie radialne, a także koncentryczne, rozgałęzione i liniowe. Rozwiązania zrównoważone występują w 94% przypadków, natomiast systemy autonomiczne pojawiają się w 33%, szczególnie w miastach pływających. Wyniki te stanowią przegląd obecnych rozwiązań w architekturze pływającej oraz ocenę jej potencjału dla przyszłych strategii projektowych, podkreślając znaczenie zrównoważonego rozwoju i dążenia do systemów autonomicznych na wszystkich etapach cyklu życia obiektu pływającego.
