Abstract

Indonesia is a country susceptible to natural disasters. The development of modular housing that integrates disaster risk and aesthetic appeal is a challenge that must be met to provide homes for Generation Z. This study aims to understand Generation Z's preferences regarding the integration of aesthetics and environmental resilience in modular housing design. The research method involves a modular 3D house model experiment designed to reflect Gen Z's preferences. The exploration of design elements in the 3D model, such as movable walls, panel connections, symmetry-asymmetry, texture, contrast colour, and window scale. The exploration of these design elements considers integrating aesthetic value into disaster-resistant home design and the use of renewable, environmentally friendly materials. Data were analysed using Multinomial Logistic Regression (MLR). The results show that removable wall elements and structural connections increase flexibility but require technical robustness in the connections. Symmetrical shapes, wide window scales, use of natural material textures influence the resilience of natural ecosystems. The integration of aesthetic elements such as texture, colour, and window scale enhances the visual appeal of a modular home.
