                                                                                                                           Detailed information

The journal  'Technika Lotnicza i Astronautyczna' (TLiA; ‘Aviation and Space Technology') was published intermittently as a monthly journal from 1932 to 1993. Lublin University of Technology obtained the publishing rights to the journal in 2016, and the first reissued edition in the form of a quarterly appeared in 2022. ‘Technika Lotnicza’ is a peer-reviewed popular science journal with a multidisciplinary focus, publishing in Polish. The articles presented in it describe issues in the field of aeronautical and astronautical technology, with particular emphasis on Polish achievements in the field of aerospace industry, research and development, new aeronautical structures and patents, as well as achievements resulting from research projects. The journal's editorial office is located at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Lublin University of Technology. The authors include research and technical staff from universities and research institutes (including from the Department of Industrial Engineering, LUT), as well as other people interested and practicing in the aviation technology industry. The reviewers include professors and doctors of sciences substantively related to the subject matter of the journal.

Academics, industry representatives, students, as well as aviation technology enthusiasts are invited to publish in the journal.

Information for authors interested in publishing in Aviation Technology can be found in the Guidelines for Authors.

The journal TLiA does not charge submission or publication fees for the manuscripts, publishing in the open access formula, under the licence Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0 Int.). Articles published before 2024 are made available under the CC BY-SA licence.

                                                                                                                           Aim and scope of the journal

The aim of the journal is to popularise aviation technology in academia, industry and also among aviation enthusiasts. In particular, the journal aims to:

  • to present research results, aeronautical patents, new aeronautical designs;
  • enabling young authors (students) to publicise their own achievements in aeronautical and astronautical technology;
  • transferring the latest knowledge in the field of aeronautical and astronautical technology;
  • acting as an ambassador of Polish achievements in aerospace technology.

                                                                                                                           History of the journal

The journal was founded in 1932 under the title 'Techniczne Nowości Lotnicze' ('Technical Aviation News') under the editorship of Mirosław Teraszkiewicz as a monthly published by the Union of Polish Aeronautical Engineers. In 1938, the title of the periodical was changed to 'Technika Lotnicza' ('Aviation Technology'). In 1946, the periodical was relaunched, appearing in inconsistent frequency over the next 50 years as a quarterly, bimonthly or monthly. Further title changes followed in 1966 – 'Technika Lotnicza i Astronautyczna' ('Aviation and Space Technology') and then in 1991 – 'Aero: Technika Lotnicza' ('Aero: Aviation Technology'; published until 1993).

In 2016 Lublin University of Technology became the publisher of the journal, and in 2022 acquired the copyright to publish its archival issues, held by the Society of Polish Mechanical Engineers and Technicians (Stowarzyszenie Inżynierów i Techników Mechaników Polskich – SIMP). The first issues of the journal resumed after a 30-year hiatus and began to be published as a quarterly, in print and electronic versions.

Archival issues of ‘Aviation and Space Technology’, dating from 1948 to 1993, have been compiled and uploaded to the Archive on the LUT PH platform as part of the project entitled ‘Digitisation of the journal <<Aviation and Space Technology>>’ (2022-2024), within the programme of the Minister of Education and Science titled ‘Social responsibility of science – Support for scientific libraries’ (Contract no. SONB/SP/548651/2022; „Społeczna odpowiedzialność nauki – Wsparcie dla bibliotek naukowych”, umowa nr SONB/SP/548651/2022).
