Globalna pandemia COVID-19, która wymusiła izolację, ukazała odpowiedzialność architektów i planistów w dziedzinie wspierania zdrowia publicznego. Choć koncepcja krajobrazów terapeutycznych jest dość nowa, dążenie do projektowania otoczenia sprzyjającego zdrowiu jest co najmniej tak stare jak urbanistyka. Ogrodowe przedmieścia Ebenezera Howarda i Patricka Geddesa zostały zaplanowane tak, by promować zdrowie i dobre samopoczucie. Najważniejszym celem Le Corbusiera było zapewnienie światła dziennego i świeżego powietrza każdemu mieszkaniu. Jednak wieżowce na otwartej zielonej przestrzeni, które budowano zgodnie z jego wizjami, zamieniły się w nieprzyjazne wielkie przedmieścia. Współczesna definicja krajobrazu terapeutycznego obejmuje nie tylko fizyczne aspekty środowiska, ale także czynniki społeczne i psychologiczne. W niniejszym opracowaniu skupiono się na próbach stworzenia miejsc sprzyjających zdrowiu. Ciekawym zagadnieniem jest określenie cech architektury, które mają wpływ na ochronę zdrowia. Chociaż indywidualna percepcja miejsc korzystnych dla zdrowia jest subiektywna i może się różnić, można wyróżnić pewne obiektywne cechy eko-dzielnic, które sprzyjają zdrowiu i długowieczności człowieka. Niniejsze studium to połączenie przeglądu literatury z badaniami w terenie, a jego owocem jest opracowanie ram konceptualnych, które mogą być skonsolidowane w uniwersalne standardy dla miejsc pro-zdrowotnych.
