Abstract
An intensive development of a transport infrastructure noticeable in recent
years causes significant fragmentation of habitats, barrier effects and increase in the mortality
rate of wild animals on roads. It is very dangerous both for drivers and animals.
It is very important that a processes of planning and designing the road is attended by
designers, planners, road authorities who are fully informed of the migration routes of
animals, as well as forest inspectorates and naturalists focused on animals protection. It is
also necessary to collect detailed information about road collision and accidents involving
animals that enable the development of ways and methods to protect both people and
animals.
