Efektywność różnych rodzajów spoiw w stabilizacji/utwardzaniu (S/U) zanieczyszczonych gleb silnie zależy od rodzaju gleby i obecnych zanieczyszczeń. Literatura obfituje w badania nad stabilizacją/utwardzaniem gleb gliniastych, co stanowi tło dla wstępnych założeń w projektowaniu metody aplikacji dla zanieczyszczonych gleb tego typu. Jednakże, badania nad stabilizacją/utwardzaniem pyłu lessowego zanieczyszczonego metalami ciężkimi nie są dostępne. Wypełnienie tej luki jest ważne, aby zapewnić szybkie przyjęcie najbardziej skutecznych środków zaradczych w przypadku zanieczyszczenia gleby i ich natychmiastowe wdrożenie w warstwach podbudowy. Niniejszy artykuł umożliwił określenie najbardziej efektywnej mieszanki spośród badanych do rekultywacji pyłu lessowego zanieczyszczonego cynkiem pod kątem wytrzymałości na ściskanie. Wytrzymałości ustalono przy zastosowaniu 30% cementu Portlandzkiego (2,63 MPa), 30% mieszanki popiołu lotnego z cementem (2,21 MPa), mieszanki popiołu z przepalonego osadu ściekowego z cementem (0,93 MPa) oraz mieszanki, w których cement został zastąpiony aktywatorem MgO (0,18 MPa dla popiołu lotnego i 0,63 MPa dla popiołu z przepalonego osadu ściekowego). Dodatkowo, wyznaczono wytrzymałość dla próbek zawierających mieszankę popiołu lotnego, aktywatora i cementu (0,26 MPa) oraz popiołu z przepalonego osadu ściekowego, aktywatora i cementu (0,26 MPa), przy stosunkach wagowych odpowiednio 5:4:1. Podsumowując, można uznać, że popiół lotny i cement w stosunku 2:1 to najbardziej efektywna mieszanka wiążąca pod kątem zwiększenia wytrzymałości na ściskanie bez ograniczeń.
